This Nationally Recognised skill set has been specifically developed for care workers and assistants in nursing, responsible for providing
care services to clients requiring assistance in taking prescribed medications (in either a community or residential care setting).
Covering topics including basic anatomy and physiology, physical assistance skills and techniques and incident reporting and standard documentation, participants will need to complete two (2) units of competency.
• HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
• HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication
During the two day training course students will be provided with learning materials, all theory is conducted in the classroom.
Practical assessment must be undertaken in the workplace, observed and signed off by an RN.
The candidate must show evidence to manage tasks and contingencies in the context of the job role. The third party evidence will ensure the candidate has:
• worked effectively with information about the human body and its healthy functioning in at least 3 different situations
Provided assistance with medication:
• to at least 5 different clients according to the third party assessment
• with at least 5 different types of medications
• used at least 3 different modes of administration
Students will be required to submit their observation third party report within four (4) weeks of the program’s completion
