Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) has announced that Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner Janet Anderson will meet with Members and address LASA’s Tri-State Conference in Albury next month.

The Tri-State Conference, to be held from 24-26 February, brings together more than 300 age services professionals, leaders and specialists from across metropolitan and regional Victoria, South Australia and regional New South Wales.

Janet Anderson will talk about the Aged Care Quality Framework through the eyes of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission on day one of the conference.

Ms Anderson said she was looking forward to engaging with the aged care industry about issues of quality in age services.

”The heightened level of community interest in aged care is sharpening everyone’s focus on ensuring that aged care recipients are treated with dignity and respect, and receive the safe, high quality care they deserve,” Ms Anderson said.

“Proactive implementation of the Single Quality Framework and the new Standards will support these efforts, and help to deliver the best possible experiences and outcomes for aged care recipients.

“The roles and responsibilities of providers of age services in relation to the new Quality Standards are a key consideration. Also important are the respective roles of aged care consumers and their families, and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission as system regulator. These are the issues I’m looking forward to addressing at the LASA Tri-State Conference.”

LASA CEO Sean Rooney said there will be keen interest in Ms Anderson’s address at a time when the national focus is squarely on quality and safety in our industry.

“The safety and care of older Australians is not negotiable and our industry is committed to working with the Commission to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are achieved.

“We’re pleased Janet Anderson has chosen to join us at the conference at such a critical time, less than two months after the Commission commenced operations and with the Royal Commission underway.
