LASA CEO Sean Rooney will hit the road in April to provide an opportunity for industry executives and board members across the country to hear the latest from Canberra on the state of the age services industry.

“2018 must be a year of action for age services in Australia. The needs of the growing numbers of older Australians, combined with a system experiencing significant change, cannot be ignored,” Mr Rooney said.

“The May 8 Federal Budget promises to bring with it the next phase of government reform and there are a number of current influential reviews and their recommendations helping shape the future of the sector.”

Mr Rooney said there are key strategic and operational issues, particularly around quality, workforce and funding, that age services providers will need to be across in order to successfully navigate current and future challenges.

“We must seize this opportunity to ensure all older Australians have available to them accessible, affordable, quality care and services, delivered by a high-performing, respected and sustainable age services industry,” Mr Rooney said.

“Expectations are set that 2018 must be the year of ‘action’. The issues of ageing and aged care in Australia are too important not to get right. We think it is timely to provide a high-level briefing and discussion opportunity for industry leaders around the country.”
