Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) CEO Sean Rooney said Australia is facing a ‘new normal’ as the ‘baby boomers’ generation ages and it requires a shift in the way we think about ageing and aged care.
Mr Rooney said we are witnessing the dawning of a new era where longevity of life is celebrated, consumers are empowered to choose, and fresh opportunities for Australia’s aged care industry abound.
“The issues of ageing and aged care are of national importance and we need to engage all Australians in what it means to age well in our country,” Mr Rooney said.
“Driven by well-informed consumers and supported by an increasingly large and diverse workforce, this new era of ageing will require next level leadership characterised by agile service providers, able to reframe our industry and respond to ever-evolving models of care.”
LASA will lead the ‘ageing transformed’ conversation at this year’s LASA National Congress 2018 (28-30 October, Adelaide), where through three days of interactive discussions and thought-leading presentations we will shine that ‘first light’ on an era of new thinking, practices and models of age services for the next generation and beyond.
Mr Rooney said this year LASA has organised the Congress sessions around key themes rather than service types or settings.
“On this year’s program you will find themes that go beyond or cut across the sector such as workforce, environment, innovation, quality or governance,” Mr Rooney said.
“LASA is now calling for abstracts that will inform and drive the aged care sector to rise to the challenge of ‘Ageing Transformed…the dawning of a new era’.”
LASA Congress 2018 is the largest age services event in the southern hemisphere and is regarded as the most comprehensive and thought-provoking aged care event of the year. If you only attend one event this year, it has to be LASA National Congress in Adelaide on 28-30 October.
Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are still available and organisations wishing to break into aged care or enhance their existing brand reputation are encouraged to contact the LASA events team.
