LASA and the DCM Institute announce professional development alliance: DCM Village Management program to contribute to LASA Leadership & Management Diploma.

Against a backdrop of increasing regulation, the retirement village sector is responding to the growing demand for increased professionalism of Village Management.

Answering this demand, Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) and the DCM Institute have announced an alliance to expand the breadth of learning programs available.

Components of the DCM Institute’s Village Management Professional Development program will now be accepted as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the LASA Leadership & Management Diploma. LASA is a Registered Training Organisation.

DCM identifies the importance of Village Managers and village operator Head Office staff having a nationally accredited Diploma course that is a recognised building block in their career development. The diploma delivers key training in business management and leadership.

LASA identifies and endorses the specialist DCM Institute Village Management Professional Development (VM PD) program, which delivers the building-block hard and soft skills required for managing a retirement village.

The immediate impact is that the 75 current DCM enrolled Village Managers will achieve RPL points towards an existing or future LASA Leadership & Management Diploma. This will grow to hundreds of Village Managers over the next six months.

For the first time, Village Managers will be able to gain short term and long term recognition of their personal investment in career development, and Operators, in the recruitment process, will be able to identify skills attained.

Importantly, residents of retirement villages will benefit from the increased training and professionalism of their Village Managers.

Both the DCM Institute and the LASA programs will incorporate the requirements of existing and new regulations as they are introduced. The DCM Village Management Program is conducted by well- respected Retirement Village professional Jodie Prosser DCM’s Director Leadership and Learning.

LASA members will benefit by DCM making their Professional Development program available across the country.

This geographic spread of LASA members will hasten the spread of village management professionalism nationally.
