The best of age services in Western Australia will be in the spotlight when the LASA Excellence in Age Services Awards are announced at LASA’s inaugural WA State Conference in Perth next Wednesday evening, 29 May.

The awards promote and recognise excellence across the diverse and dynamic fields of endeavour in the age services sector and celebrate the passion and achievements of organisations, teams and individuals in the service of older Australians.

“It’s great to see such a strong field of entries from Western Australia,” said LASA CEO Sean Rooney.

“They demonstrate some of the best and most innovative provision of care and services being delivered to older Australians and their families both in metropolitan and regional areas.

“These individuals and teams who are doing so much to help older Australians, their families and the communities they serve represent the best of our sector..”

Categories include Organisation, Team, Individual, and for the first time, Rising Star, which recognises an individual with less than five years industry experience who has made an outstanding contribution to age services.

Mr Rooney said LASA is particularly proud to have initiated a ‘rising star’ award for 2019 “in keeping with our future focus for the industry and nurturing the next generation of age services staff and leaders.”

The awards will be judged at a state level across the four categories with each of the state winners progressing to the national awards to be presented at LASA’s National Congress on 27-29 October.

LASA congratulates the following WA finalists:

Individual: Linda Kuuse (Stirling Community Care), Cathy West (Community Vision Australia Limited), Mandy Banks (Curtin Aged Persons Home).
