The next generation of age services professionals is being called on to highlight their achievements, in a new category of the national LASA Excellence in Age Services Awards.
The Next Gen Young Leader Award will recognise bold and inclusive leaders under the age of 40 who are making outstanding contributions to the age services sector.
“We are looking for younger people who are using their passion, drive and initiative to support older Australians to age well,” said Samantha Bowen, LASA Next Gen Advisor.
“These Awards are open to people under 40, right across the age services industry. We want to acknowledge young people as drivers of positive change, through a rapidly growing area of professional opportunity.”
The new Next Gen Young Leader prize will join the four existing Awards in LASA’s Excellence In Age Services awards: Organisation, Team, Individual and Rising Star.
“The Awards recognise excellence across the diverse and dynamic fields of endeavour in our industry,” said LASA CEO Sean Rooney.
“LASA is proud to have initiated the Next Gen program to support young leaders and we encourage everyone to consider their achievements and enter the Awards.”
State and Territory Award winners will be announced at conferences during 2020. The Next Gen Young Leader Award is open to any young person making a difference and creating change in our age services industry. Overall winners will be announced at LASA’s National Congress in October.
“As far as our young age services professionals are concerned, we want to recognise them as being front and centre of a better future for older Australians,” said Ms Bowen.
“This is about challenging stereotypes and helping young people see age services as a growing set of dynamic and innovative careers.”
