LASA, the voice of aged care, has been praised in the 2020 Association Awards.

While the association of Restaurant and Catering Australia (RCA) won the Association of the Year Award, for the first time a Runner Up prize was given. LASA was declared Runner Up due to ‘exemplary leadership and services to members under pressure’ in 2020.

“We are honoured to be recognised by the Association Awards, after an incredibly challenging year for our Members during which we supported, serviced and advocated on their behalf during the pandemic,” said LASA CEO Sean Rooney.

“Being recognised in the Awards is gratifying but the real recognition should go to tireless aged care workers and operators who are doing all they can to care for our elders and keep them safe from COVID-19.

“While we praise the great efforts of the winner we are delighted to be commended for our collective efforts, in what was a strong list of nominees for the Awards.

“We are recognised as the Voice of Aged Care and LASA leads on advocacy, media, support and value-adding services, boasting a 98% Member satisfaction rating in 2020.

“I thank our Members for their trust and confidence and we look forward to protecting older people and their dedicated staff in 2021 and backing quality care and consideration across the nation.

“While the risk of coronavirus continues, this year will also be a transformational time for age services. We look forward to the Royal Commission’s final report and will work hard to turn the recommendations into change for the better.

“LASA is totally committed to ensuring our elders receive care and support with quality, safety and compassion, always.

“And this will be delivered by passionate and professional aged care workers employed by high performing, respected and sustainable aged care service providers.”
