Overview:
Complimentary vital training for staff and proprietors of SRS
This workshop will inform personal support coordinators and workers, managers and proprietors about medication administration and management requirements as specified in legislation and will include an overview, and interactive session around:
- Effective communication skills when administering residents’ medication
- Correct administration of prescribed and non-prescribed medications
- Minimising the risks associated with the administration of residents’ medication.
- Non-drug intervention methods for behaviours, the 6 rights, falls prevention
- Antimicrobial stewardship principles
Participants will also receive handouts to supplement this session and support their learning including use of asthma COPD inhalers, BPSD Antipsychotic Safety, constipation, creams and ointments and Medicine Wise inhaler Techniques
This workshop has been adapted for online learning. There may be some changes to information provided during these online sessions. Due to time restrictions participants may also be required to complete post workshop reading or activities.

Due to restrictions from COVID-19 this workshop and all other SRS workshops will be presented online through Zoom.
All resources will also be emailed to participants. Upon completion, certificates will also be sent via email.

This is an interactive session and participants need to be logged in 1-person per device. We use Zoom meeting platform and camera and microphone is required. If you can not meet this requirement please email events@lasa.asn.au or call 1300 111 636 to discuss.
Due to limited numbers per workshop there is an initial limit of 3 participants per facility.
Please note, if you decide to complete an online workshop at the SRS it is recommended you complete it outside of your rostered shift, this will ensure the SRS has appropriate staffing levels to support residents.
