Niv from Macular Disease Foundation Australia (MDFA) will be presenting on their FREE age-related macular degeneration education sessions for consumers. Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in Australia, and 1 in 7 Australians aged over 50 have some sign of AMD.
During this session, participants will learn:
- Who are MDFA
- What is age-related macular degeneration
- How MDFA can support your clients through free AMD education sessions for over 50’s
- Content of education sessions
- MDFA’s free educational resource packs
- Resources and training videos for care workers to support clients with vision loss in RACF
Who should attend?
CHSP providers, residential aged care and community care service coordinators, centre-based respite coordinators, aged care engagement coordinators and seniors’ groups coordinators.
Niv Chandramohan, Health Promotion Coordinator
Niv is the health promotion coordinator at Macular Disease Foundation Australia. She has a bachelor’s degree in Vision Science with first class honours. Niv works closely with community seniors’ groups to organise and facilitate education sessions to the wider community. She provides non-clinical support to patients who are at risk or have been diagnosed with a macular disease and their family and is involved in other patient-focused initiatives and advocacy work.
